{"id":2699,"date":"2022-06-10T17:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-06-10T15:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cardesignaward.org\/?p=2699"},"modified":"2022-06-10T17:08:06","modified_gmt":"2022-06-10T15:08:06","slug":"2022-car-design-awards-go-to-toyota-ferrari-and-polestar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cardesignaward.org\/en\/2022-car-design-awards-go-to-toyota-ferrari-and-polestar\/","title":{"rendered":"2022 CAR DESIGN AWARDS GO TO TOYOTA, FERRARI AND POLESTAR"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The design teams of <strong>Toyota for the concept car Compact Cruiser EV<\/strong>, <strong>Ferrari for the 296 GTB<\/strong> and <strong>Polestar for its Brand Design Language <\/strong>are the winners of the 2022 Car Design Award, the Oscar of world car design established in 1984 by Auto&amp;Design magazine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The award ceremony was held in Milan at the prestigious ADI Design Museum today, during the Milano Design Week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Car Design Award has three categories since 2016: &#8220;Concept Cars&#8221;, &#8220;Production Cars&#8221; and &#8220;Brand Design Language&#8221;, an award given to the design team that has stood out for the consistency and transversality of its brand&#8217;s formal language across the whole product range. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are the winners of the 2022 edition, chosen from\na shortlist of ten finalists:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>in the <strong>Concept Cars<\/strong> section, the <strong>Toyota<\/strong> design team for its <strong>Compact Cruiser EV<\/strong> project<\/li><li>in second place the Polestar design team for the O2 <\/li><li> in third place the Astheimer Design team for its Aura <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>for <strong>Production\nCars<\/strong>, the best design award went to <strong>Ferrari<\/strong> design for its<strong> 296\nGTB<\/strong><\/li><li>in\nsecond place ex aequo, the teams of DS design for the 4 and Lotus for the Eletre\n<\/li><li>on\nthe third step of the podium, the Volkswagen team for the ID.Buzz<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>for\nthe <strong>Brand Design Language<\/strong> section, i.e. the design language of the whole\nbrand, the award went to the <strong>Polestar<\/strong> team <\/li><li>the Ferrari\nand Kia design teams are in second and third places respectively<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Car Design Award has three categories since 2016:\n&#8220;Concept Cars&#8221;, &#8220;Production Cars&#8221; trophies, with their unique design, were\nmade by Brembo, a partner of the initiative since the award was revived in the\n2000s. <em>\u201cThe trophy for this edition is inspired by our latest innovation\nSensify, the smart braking system that offers designers new opportunities and\nscope for creativity. Design has always been part of Brembo\u2019s DNA; attention to\nform, detail and finish will always be a key aspect of our market offering\u201d<\/em>,\nsaid Mauro Piccoli, Brembo Chief Marketing Officer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guest of the ceremony, Riccardo Balbo, Academic\nDirector of IED Global: <em>\u201cThe IED shares the values of the Car Design Award. All the design details are meant\nto express all-terrain credentials in a contemporary shape. A rugged and modern\nutilitarian product that is also desirable, a hard feat to achieve\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PRODUCTION CARS, Ferrari 296 GTB<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cCreating such a beautiful and organic shape\nwhile respecting all current regulations and at the same time equipping the car\nwith technology and performance of the highest level is truly impressive. The\ninfluence of the legendary racing sports cars of the 1960s is found in the\nFerrari 296 GTB and the end result is a grand contemporary interpretation of a\nclassic design language\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>BRAND DESIGN LANGUAGE, Polestar<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAt Polestar everything has a practical\nmeaning, beyond looking for beauty. In addition to the clean, elegant and\nfuturistic style, its projects also reveal concern for the planet and\nsustainability.
